Foundation Stone Notes: | (Evening News - 23 August 1888) (FROM OUR CORRESPONDENTS) "New South Wales. A New Wesleyan Church. Parramatta, Thursday. — On Wednesday afternoon the foundation and memorial stones of the new Wesleyan Church on Dura Road, Castle Hill, were laid, one by Mrs. Schofield, of Bondi, who contributed £50, and the other by the Rev. Mr. Carruthers, superintending minister of Ryde circuit. The site is next the church erected is 1845, which will henceforth be used as a schoolroom." (The Sentinel - 19 February 1846) "New Wesleyan Chapel. — Yesterday week a neat stone building, dedicated to the worship of Almighty God, and erected by the Contributors of the Wesleyan Methodists in the Parramatta District was opened, for the first time at Castle Hill." This is now part of the present church hall.
(The Cumberland Argus - 26 January 1889) "The new Wesleyan Church, Castle Hill, will be opened to-day with a luncheon and public meeting, commencing at 1 o'clock."
