Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church

Foundation stone records: This first stone - of the - Church of Our Lady of Victories - to the Glory of God - and in memory of - the Catholic Sailors & Soldiers of Queensland - who fought and died in the - Great European War 1914 - 19 - was blessed and laid by - H E Most Rev B Cattaneo DD LL D - Apostolic Delegate - 24th August 1919. Memorial plaques record: (1) 1940 - 1980 (text first recorded in Polish and then English) In honoured memory of - 14000 Polish Prisoners of War - Massacred by Soviet Forces - at Katyn and elsewhere in U S S R in 1948 - Polish Community of Queensland.(2) The Polish Community - of Brisbane united in its faith - in the Risen Christ and praying - for its Pastors and Benefactors - who have gone home to the Lord.
