The St Andrew's Anglican Cathedral is the Cathedral church of the Diocese of Sydney, and the seat of the Anglican Archbishop of Sydney. It is stated 2 foundation stones were laid - one for a grand cathedral designed for Gov Macquarie by Francis Greenway. This was abandoned after a short period. A second stone was laid in 1837 by Bishop Broughton. This design was more modest in scale.
St Andrew's Anglican Cathedral was founded in 1819 and consecrated in 1868. The Chapter House was built in 1886. Major restoration work was undertaken in 1999-2000 to bring the Cathedral up to its present state of good order.
No other details are known about the St Andrew's Anglican Cathedral. More historical information/photographs of the Cathedral/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 9/8/2020.
