The foundation stone for the previous church building was laid on 17/10/1954, by Bishop C E Storres, after the earlier building had been destroyed by a tornado on 20/2/1954. A plaque records: To the glory of God - this Church of St Matthew - (the 3rd on this site) - was consecrated by - Right Rev Keith Slater - Bishop of Grafton - on this day - 9th October 2010. |

The current St Matthew's Anglican Church, Dunoon building was consecrated on 9/10/2010 by the tenth Bishop of Grafton, Rev Keith Slater. The new brick building had been erected after the previous building had been destroyed by a violent tornado on 26/10/2007. It also had replaced an earlier building destroyed by a tornado on 20/2/1954. No other details are known. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited.
