The present St John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Coffs Harbour is in the Parish of Coffs Harbour and the Diocese of Grafton. The church building was dedicated on 3/3/1973, and the Church celebrated its 125 anniversary on 20/10/2024. It is the third St John's in Coffs Harbour, and the second to be erected on the present site. The first St John's was built on the corner of Moonee St & Coramba Rd and was dedicated on 6/4/1899. This site was subject to flooding and the building was moved to the present site about 1905. The second St John's was erected next to it and was dedicated on 28/5/1911. It stood from 1911 to 1972. After the second St John's was built the original St John's was moved to High St at the Jetty, and renamed St Aidan's by the Sea Anglican Church. When the present St John's was built the St Aidan's Anglican Church at the Jetty area was closed and demolished in 1973. It had served the Jetty area for about sixty years.1 More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 22/4/2020.
