The Mooroolbark Baptist Church, Croydon is a member of the association of churches known as the Baptist Union of Victoria. The church had its genesis in 1947, when Sid and Faith Jordan began a Sunday School in their home at cnr Pembroke and Taylor Roads, Mooroolbark. In 1948, the Lilydale Baptist Church arranged fortnightly services in the public hall in Station Street. The first church building was an old farm shed, relocated to a site in Manchester Road, and opened on 30/3/1952 by the Rev J D Manning. During the 1950s, to meet the needs of the growing Sunday School and congregation, extensions were added and addional buildings erected. However, when road wideing in the late 1950s resulted in the property losing 12 feet from the front of its site, it was time for the church to seek a larger property. The present site was then acquired, and the buildings relocated in 1960. Over the years many new programs were commenced and building works undertaken to meet the needs of the growing congregation. The opening of extensions and refurbishment of the church buildings in 2002, coincided with the celebrations of the church's 50th anniversary. [Sourced from: https://www.mbc.org.au/about/our-story].
