The Silver Street Baptist Mission held its final service on 22/3/2020, and the property has since been sold (2022). This Mission grew out of the earlier Marrickville Baptist Church, as a relaunch of the church's ministry in Marrickville about 1999. This mission/church closed shortly after its re-commemcement, due to expensive Council fire protection requirements. The earlier Marrickville Baptist Church began about 1887, as a church plant from the Petersham Baptist Church, and moved to the present site in 1889. The present church building was opened in 1961. The final service on 22/3/2020, held at the time COVID restrictions, was also the last service of Pastor Peter Green, who had been Pastor at the church since 4/2/1984.
