The Longford Baptist Church closed about 2000, and the property was sold. The church was a member of the Tasmanian Baptists. The congregation had decided to move and erect a new church building at 159 Wellington Street, and is now known as Riverlands (see separate entry - 7301). The original Longford Tabernacle had been opened in December 1880, along with a similar structure in Deloraine, in the same month/year. Its construction, along with the Deloraine building, had been funded by Mr William Gibson, who had also funded the erection of a number of other Baptist churches in Tasmania. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 13/6/2023.
