(Freeman's Journal 28 October 1905) "NEW CHURCH AT COBAR The ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the proposed new church of St. Lawrence O'Toole at Cobar was performed by his Lordship the Bishop of Wilcannia (the Right Rev. Dr. Dunne) on Sunday, October 15th, in the presence of a very large assemblage. About 3 o'clock a procession was formed near the entrance of the church, headed by Father Laide and the altar boys. Then followed the convent school children, to the number of nearly 200, carrying banners." |

The Church was opened yesterday by His Grace the Coadjutor Archbishop of Sydney, assisted by Drs Gallagher (Goulburn, and Dunne (Wilcannia), Revs.J J Hughes (Cobar), G. Barry (Cobar), W. Cahill (Tumut), J. Carroll (Brewarrina), and H J Maguinness (Bourke)".
