The St Augustine's Catholic Church, Mossman is in the Parish of Mossman & Port Douglas and the Diocese of Cairns. [The church is presently closed]. The first Catholic Church building in Mossman (Junction Road), was opened in November or December 1905, but was destroyed by a cyclone on 16/3/1911 (as was St Mary's Catholic Church bulding in Port Douglas).
The second church building was opened on 11/2/1912.
The original site was too small for a parish school, so in 1929 the Grogan Street site was bought. A new Church-School building was opened on 29/4/1934.
The present church building was opened on 30/1/1977. Note the building is hexagonal in shape not square.
More historical information/photographs of the churches/congregations are invited. Photographs uploaded 25/8/2018.
