Comments
St John's Pro-Cathedral, is now a museum. It is the oldest surviving church building in Perth. When construction began it was to be known as the St John the Apostle and Evangelist Catholic Church, but when Father John Brady returned from Rome in January 1846 as Bishop Brady it became the seat of the Bishop, and hence a Cathedral. It served as a Cathedral between 1845 and 1865. In 1865, St Mary's Cathedral was opened and it became the seat of the Bishop. After this it was used for many years as a school. In 1979/80 it was extensively restored for use as a museum by the Catholic Church.
