The St Carthage's Catholic Cathedral, Lismore is the seat of the Bishop of Lismore. On 5/5/1887 the new Diocese of Grafton was established, and on 11/9/1887 Bishop Doyle established St Mary's Church, Lismore as his Pro-Cathedral. On 17/3/1892 Bishop Doyle announced plans to build a new Cathedral dedicated to St Carthage of Lismore in Ireland. The foundation stone of the Cathedral was laid by Cardinal Moran on 2/10/1892. The name of the Diocese was changed from Grafton to Lismore on 13/6/1900. The Cathedral was opened on 15/8/1907. More historical information/photographs of the Cathedral/congregation are invited.
