St Joseph's Catholic Church

The first St Joseph's Catholic Church, Megalong Valley building was erected about 1902 across the Six Foot Track, at the intersection with Megalong Road, next to the general cemetery. It was accidently burnt down when the visiting prest was spending the night there before saying Mass the next day. He was not able to save the building, but did rescue two leadlight windows and vestments. The current building replaced the earlier one on the same site. However, it was moved in 1952 to its present site to make it more accessable for the parishioners. The present site was donated by the Ward family who owned the old Megalong station.
