The former St Peter's Catholic Church, Stanley, was opened on 13/8/1865 by the Rev Timothy O'Callaghan from Chiltern. A large crowd attended the opening from Beechworth, including the Beechworth choir. The church in understood to have closed about 1980. The exact location of the church building is not known, but it is believed to have been not far from the Stanley Cemetery at 14 Lower Nine Mile Road. (details/correction are invited).
