The present St Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, Penrith was opened and blessed by Cardinal Gilroy on 30/4/1967. The first chapel was built on land donated by John Tindale of Hornseywood Farm. A small cemetery was also consecrated shortly after the foundation stone was laid. The chapel was consecrated on 13/11/1850 by Archbishop Polding. The parish celebrated its 175th anniversary on 2014.
