The Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church had humble beginnings about 1919, with the first Mass celebrated in a hall in Third Avenue, Berala. The first church building was originally a hall (used for dances and a picture theatre) built around 1934 in Kerrinea Road, and originally part of the Bankstown parish. It eventually became the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and was substantially modified with extensions in 1963/4.(see photograph 2). The Immaculate Heart of Mary parish was established on 1/11/1948. Details of the present church bulding are not known. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 6/2/2021.
