Paddington Church of Christ

"LAYING A FOUNDATION STONE. - PADDINGTON CHURCH OF CHRIST - On Saturday afternoon, in the presence of a large gathering, the foundation-stone of the new Church of Christ, Paddington, was laid by Mr G P Jones, a prominent member of the congregation. Pastor T Bagley presided, and among those present were Pastors Walden, Dickson, Forscutt, Revs. Dr Fordyce, C J W Moon, F B Cowling and Dr J Kingsbury. The chairman explained that some eight years since a few workers started a mission at Queen-street, Woollahra, and two years ago decided to make an attempt to erect a temple of their own. In a document placed under the stone it was set out that the cost of the structure was 1120 [pounds], that the congregation numbered about 160, and various other particulars. The building is of brick, and is two story, the lower portion to be used as a schoolroom. A choir sang special music, and several of the clergymen delivered addresses."
