The following social history note was provided by Rhonda Hallett on 12/2/2024: "I am a part time resident of Bet Bet (I own the former school) and am looking at the history of the area. I've been interested in the memorials established regarding locals in the district who served in WW1. There are 3 trees -one each for those who were killed in service- planted on the Church grounds. This arose from a motion that was passed at the Church meeting in March 1920. The 3 trees appear to be Aleppo Pines. They are positioned opposite the side entrance to the Church on the northern boundary of the block. The 3 men commemorated are: James McKenzie Anderson; William Cornwill; Bert Kerr. Bert Kerr was a member of the church, though it is not clear if William Cornwill was. James McKenzie's family were associated with the Presbyterian Church also located in the town. The Minutes also indicate great pride in the building and ongoing and strenuous efforts to maintain it. Prior to it's closure in 1968, it was a community bub, with the building used for local meetings, and other local events such as marriages and baptisms A tennis court was located on the eastern side of the block. It is now gone. The building is in a very poor state now".
