The foundation stone was laid on 25/11/1878 by Miss Christina Scott [daughter of the land donor]. The text on the foundation stone is not known. Information/photographs are invited.

Information plaque records: Congregational Church - Services began at Dutton in 1872 by Rev. Peter Barr of Truro. The Rev. William Newbould founded the Congregation in July 1877. The church was dedicated on the 9th March 1879. It closed due to declining membership in December 1958. The Congregation was always part of the Truro circuit.

The former Dutton Congregational Church closed in December 1958, and the property has been sold. The church had been part of the Congregational Union of Australia. The former church building opened on 9/3/1879, and was erected on land donated by Mr Thomas Scott. Early services were held in the St John's Lutheran Church building.
