The St John's Lutheran Church, Eudunda is part of the Eudunda Robertstown Lutheran Parish the Lutheran District of SA-NT and a member of the Lutheran Church of Australia. The church had its beginning about 1870 when a congregation was formed in Emmaus, and the first service was held in a private home. The first church building was erected in 1872. As many members of the Emmaus congregation lived near Eudunda a new church building was erected there and opened on 4/10/1884. In 1888 the St Trintatis Lutheran congregation joined the Emmaus church, when their church closed (see separate entry - 5374). Following the combining of the two Lutheran Synods to form the Lutheran Church of Australia, the St Paul's Eudunda congregation and the Emmaus congregation combined to form the St John's Lutheran Church from the beginning of 1967, meeting in the Emmaus church building as it was the larger. Due to this building ultimately not being large enough and with ongoing maintenance issues, it was decided to erected a new building. The final service in the old building was held on 18/11/1979 and the present church building dedicated on 21/12/1980. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 30/10/2024.
