Immanuel Lutheran Church

The Immanuel Lutheran Church, Tintinara is part of the Lutheran District of SA-NT and the Lutheran Church of Australia. The Lutheran Church of Australia was formed in 1966 by the merger of the United Evangelical Lutheran Church of Australia (UELCA) and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Australia (ELCA). Both the UELCA and ELCA held services in Tintinara prior to the merger. The first was the UELCA which began services in the home of Mr & Mrs Les Keller in 1950, later in the Congregational Church building, then from 1961 in the Anglican Church building and from 1965 in the RSL Hall. A separate congregation was not formally established, members retaining membership of the Coonalpyn congregation. In 1960. a fortnightly ELCA service began in the RSL Hall, with a formal congregation being established about 1961. After the formation of the Lutheran Church of Australia, the Tintinara congregation was formed in July 1967, and became part of the Coonlpyn Parish. In 1968 it was decided to erect  a church building in Tintinara. This was opened and dedicated on 11/4/1976, the construction being delayed by having to change the builder and a wall collapsing in a storm during construction.
