The present St Peter's Lutheran Church, Stawell building was erected for the Congregational Church in 1874. Two groups of the Congregational Church were in Stawell in the 1860's - the English and the Welsh Independents. They came together a few years later, and on 13 September 1874, this church was opened. In August 1957, the newly formed Lutheran Congregation of Stawell purchased the former Congregational Church building. After renovations the building was dedicated on 28/9/1958 as St Peter's Lutheran Church. An organ donated by a church member, and classified by the Organ Historical Trust of Australia as a rare exemple of a William Hill chamber organ was installed in this church in 1969. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 6/12/2016.
