Comments

The Petersville Methodist Church building was destroyed by fire on 18/6/1919, and was not rebuilt. The church building was opened on 18/11/1883 for the Wesleyan Methodist Church, by the Rev W A Langford of Maitland, and until it was destroyed by fire, was also used as a State School during the week. The church became part of the Methodist Church at Union on 1900. The township was settled/established by Mr Hans Petersen who arrived from Queensland about 1879, and named the town after himself. His wife Ellen also laid the foundation stone for the church building. The building near the current site is the Petersville Town Hall. No other details are known. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 23/3/2025.
