A Cairn marks the site of the former church and includes the following plaques:

  • This stone was laid by - John Black Esq - April 24. 1905.
  • This stone was laid - by - W H Taylor Esq - 22nd Sept. 1926.
  • This porch was erected - To the memory of - The original Trustees - and Donor of the Land - 1955 - J Penna, Mrs J Penna, T Forrest, E E Hamdorf, W H Taylor, J J Zilm.
  • This Cairn - marks the site of the - South Hummocks - Methodist Church - 1905 ~ 1969 - To the Glory of God - and in thankful remembrance - of all who worshipped here.

Comments

The former South Hummocks Methodist Church closed in 1969, and the property was sold. The building was subsequently demolished in 1972. The church had been part of the Kulpara Methodist Circuit.  The site in now marked by a Cairn with plaques from the original building. The original church building was erected in 1905, on land donated by Mr John Penna. Earlier services, from about 1890, were held in the local school. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 1/4/2025.
