The St. Mary's Nativity Orthodox Church, Mays Hill (Parramatta) began about 1985, with services being celebrated in the community hall in Granville. In 1987 the congregation shifted to St Rafael's Church, Merrylands. In 1991 the present Mays Hll site was purchased and consecrated by the Late Bishop Gibran Ramlawey, with the first Liturgy being celebated in the Church Hall in 1994. After intricate and extensive construction work, the celebration of the first Holy and Great Friday in the church, was celebrated in 1999, with the official consecration of the church taking place in 2000, by the Thrice-Blessed Metroplotian Paul (Saliba).
