Bowenfels Presbyterian Church is one of the oldest churches west of the Blue Mountains. The original east-west section was built about 1850 and divided by a partition into a kirk (church) at the east end and a schoolroom on the west end. A Session House (the Session is the elders' court of the church) was added in 1877 and the main north-south section was added in 1884.
The complex was financed and organised by Andrew Brown, who also founded St Andrew's College at the University of Sydney. He is buried in the Presbyterian Cemetery, located across the Great Western Highway from the church, along with other significant local pioneers. It is still in use.
More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 7/4/2018.
