[A document placed under the Foundation Stone in part read: This Foundation Stone of St Paul's Presbyterian Church, Armidale, was laid by the Rev Thomas Johnstone, of Armidale, on Friday, the 11th day of February, in the forty-fourth year of the Reign of Her Most Gracious Majesty Queen Victoria, and Anno Domini 1881, the Right Honourable Lord Augustus William Frederick Spencer Loftus, GCB., being Governor of the Colony. The Rev Thomas Johnstone being Minister of the Church. The Trustees:...] A plaque records: This plaque commemorates - the centenary of the opening - of this building whose - foundation stone was laid on - 11~2~1881 - and which was open for - public worship on - 30~4~1882. Two foundation stones on various buildings record: (1) This stone was laid - by - Right Rev Robert Kay MA - 10th April 1912 (2) This stone was set - by - Rev A M Stevenson M A M C - on the 22nd February 1958 - Rev Neil Macleod - Minister The church also contains a number of Honour Rolls. |
