The former Wellingrove Presbyterian Church has closed and now appears to be part of the cemetery. The building is believed to have been erected by a shipbuilder about 1864. The church building was renovated about 1918 and again about 2014. No other details are known about the former church. The Wellingrove Presbyterian Cemetery adjoins the old church building and dates from about 1866. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 18/1/2019 & 4/4/2025.
The follwoing was provided by Leslie White on 30/3/2025. (I am not able to verify presently): "Wellingrove Presbyterian Church - Former. My maiden name is Boshier and I was born in Inverell 1952. My Great Great Grandfather was John Creer (possibly a name change from Johan Kruger). John Creer was born in Riga Latvia and was travelling on the ship that brought the George Wilson Family from Scotland to Australia around 1851-2. John was a ship builder (carpenter). John later married Margaret Wilson, the daughter of George and Catherine. John and Margaret had 10 children one of them being my Great Grandmother Anna Julia Worgan (nee Creer). The story passed down through the family is that John Creer built the Wellingrove Presbyterian Church. Apparently using the shipbuilding skills of using no nails. The family lived in the area."
