The Wowan Uniting/Methodist Church was the first church built in the district. It was built on land donated by Mr J McKnight and opened on 13/1/1924 by the Rev R J Williams, District Chairman. The building was severely damaged in the 2012 floods and left unusable. Rather than have it demolished it was relocated to the Museum site across the street and refurbished. It was re-opened in September 2018 and services were again conducted in the former Wowan Uniting/Methodist Church building. Regular services are still conducted in the building and in 2019 it celebrated its 95 anniversary. It is not registered as a congregation on the Queensland Uniting Church register. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 21/4/2020.
