Christ Church Anglican Church - Former

The former Christ Church Anglican Church, Bemboka (previously known as Colombo) has closed, and the property has been listed for sale (2024). The church was part of the Parish of Bega and the Diocese of Canberra & Goulburn. The present church building is the third erected by the Anglican community in Bemboka. It was opened in 1930 and consecrated on 30/8/1936. The first building, a wooden structure was located on what is now the town common, on the southern outskirts of the town. It was dedicated on 24/2/1872 and used until 1889, when it was demolished. The second church building was erected on the present church site, and was also a wooden structure. It was used until 1929, when it was demolished to make way for the present building¹.  More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited.
