The ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the new St. Bede's Church of England, Drummoyne, was performed by Lady Street (in the absence of Sir Phillp Street through illness) on Saturday afternoon, In the presence of a large gathering". The St Bede's Anglican Church, Drummoyne has occupied this site since 1884. The present church building is the third on the site, the opening of which was recorded in the newspaper as follows: (Sydney Morning Herald - 26 March 1931) "NEW CHURCH AT DRUMMOYNE. The new St. Bede's Church of England, Drummoyne, was dedicated last night by the Archbishop of Sydney (Dr. Wright) in the presence of a crowded congregation, many people being unable to gain admission. Among those present were Sir Phillp and Lady Street, Sir Thomas and Lady Henley, and a number of visiting clergymen. The building, with furnishings, cost about £11,600".
