The St Bernard's Catholic Church, Berowra Heights is now part of the Ku-ring-gai Chase Parish which was established on 25 June 2006, and the Diocese of Broken Bay. A predecessor parish dates from 1927 and its first church builiding, erected in Asquith, was opened and blessed in 1938, by the Most Rev N T Gilroy, Coadjutor Archbishop of Sydney. The distance from Berowra to Asquith was too far to travel regularly, so a house owned by Mr Edward Kelly in Berowra was hired for the celebration of Mass, later transferred to the Community Hall. The first attempt at a church building in Berowra was a re-purposed Army Hut on a site in Berowra Waters Road, but unfortunately the frame which had been assembled was blown down in a storm. This site was then abandoned and the current site was acquired. The first church building, constructed of flagstones from the sale yards in Flemington, was blessed and opened by Cardinal Gilroy on 26/4/1970. The church celebrated its 50th anniversary on 22/11/2020. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 7/12/2020.
