The first Methodist Services in Sutherland was held in Lobb Hall on 26/4/1903, conducted by the Rev Thomas Jenkin. It came towards the end of the South Coast Mission program. The first church building was opened on 4/3/1905, with the support of Mr Vickery, MLC who contributed the land and building costs, and had suported the Methodist cause for many years. The Sutherland Circuit was created in 1913, although it changed many times over the years. This original church building was destroyed by fire on 2/11/1935. The new church building was opened on 11/8/1936 by Mr George Gilmore. In preparation for Union the first joint service of the Methodist and Congregational Churces was held on Christmas morning 1975. The Sutherland Uniting Church became a reality on 22/6/1977. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photograhs uploaded 17/2/0221.
