The first Methodist service in Bathurst is recorded as being held on 29/10/1820, by the visiting preacher, the Rev W Lawry. The genesis of the Bathurst Methodist church began with the Rev Joseph Orton in October 1832. A small chapel was opened on 10/10/1837 by the Rev Jospeh McKenny, and still stands adjacent to the main church building. The present church building was opened on 31/5/1860 by the Rev Joseph Oram. Over the years its has been subject to many additions and alterations, including the adding of porches, the tower and the steeple, to meet the needs of the congregation. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 22/4/2021.
