The present St Alban the Martyr Anglican Church, St Albans held its first service on 7/11/1897, although it was still not complete, like no windows. The early church services in the district were held in a rough wooden school house about 1833. The first church/school building was erected about 1843. However it appears to have burned down and a stone building was erected in its place, although the date in unclear, maybe about 1863. It was replaced by the current building, using much of the same stone. The church hall was previously the St John the Baptist Anglican Church at Fernances - aften called the 'Common Church'. It was built in 1906, but fell into disrepair and was little used from the 1950's following floods and a shrinking district population. It was relocated to St Alban's in the early 1980s, and after significant repair was converted into the church hall and opened by Bishop Geoffrey Parker on 3/12/1983.
