(Maitland Mercury - 22 October 1889) "OPENING OF ST. PAUL'S R. C. CHURCH, GLENDON BROOK. (From a Correspondent.) On Sat., Oct. 12, the impressive ceremony of opening and blessing the above-named church, as prescribed in the Roman Ritual, was performed by the Very Rev. J. J. Hegarty, C.S.S.R. of the Redemptorist Monastery, Waratah, in the presence of a crowded congregation. Father Hegarty had been invited by the present pastor of the mission, the Rev. Thos. Rogers, Branxton, to give a mission to the good people of Glendon Brook, to whom he had endeared himself during his sojourn in Singleton, when Glendon Brook was part of the Singleton parish".
