The St Patrick's Catholic Church, Grong Grong is part of the Parish of Narrandera and the Diocese of Wagga Wagga, and is the only church now holding regular services in Grong Grong. The present church building was opened in July 1918 by the Rt Rev John Gallagher, Bishop of Goulburn. It is the second church building on this site, the first, a wooden structure, opened in 1891, was destroyed by fire on 31/3/1917. In April 1917, members of the congregation made promises of donations of 200 [pounds]. A Catholic bazaar held in August of the same year resulted in a profit of 700 [pounds]. An extraordinary amount for a small community. Father Hartigan, the Bush Poet who wrote under the name of John O'Brien made weekly visits to Grong Grong to say mass. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 25/6/2021.
