A plaque records: In thanksgiving for the - interior restoration of - St John's Church - Commenced in 1991 - the 150th anniversary of the Parish - Archdeacon Michael Birch, Rector - Barbara Hickson, Architect - To the Glory of God. A plaque records: This plaque was unveiled to celebrate - the 175th anniversary of the founding - of the Parish of St John the Baptist Mudgee - in the presence of - Bishop George Browning (Rtd) - Bishop Bruce Wilson (Rtd) - Bishop Ian Palmer - 10th Bishop of Bathurst - on Sunday 15th May 2016. A marble tablet records: In - memory of - The Ven Archdeacon Gunther - 38 years incumbent of this parish - Died 20th December 1879 - Aged 73 years. - Amid these aisles, where once his precepts showed - the heavenward pathway which in life he trod - this simple tablet marks a people's love. A plaque records: St John the Baptist Anglican Church - The first St John's was completed on this site in 1841. The first - minister, the Reverend James Gunther, served the Mudgee Parish - from 1841 to 1879. The present church, built adjacent to the first - church, was completed by Mudgee builder James Atkinson in - 1860, to the design of Sydney architects William Weaver and - William Kemp ...A 175 Commemoration Project 1822 ~ 1997.
