The former Chatswood South Uniting Church is now closed and the property sold. Wesleyan Methodist services had been held in the home of Mr Bryson from 1870, until the church building was opened on 31/12/1871. Over the years many additions have been made to the property, and a Sunday School building was built/opened in 1906. The church changed its name from Willoughby to Chatswood in 1891. Centenary celebrations were held on 1/7/1971, at which a plaque was unveiled by Sir Roden Cutler, Governor of NSW. The final service was held in the church building on 7/8/2011. A Methodist/Uniting Church cemetery opened in 1871, adjacent to the church building has now been rededicated as Pioneer Memorial Reserve, and since the 1980s has been owned by the council. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 12/10/2020.
