The St Columba & the Holy Souls Catholic Church was built as a church/school, and opened and blessed by Cardinal Moran in 1898.
The land on which it stands was originally purchased to be a Catholic cemetery in 1857. The cemetery was opened and a Mortuary Chapel erected in 1869. School was then conducted in the chapel. The property then became part of the parish of St Fiacre's, Leichhardt (see separate entry). The cemetery was closed in 1933 and the church became the parish church of North Leichhardt. It ceased to be used as a school in 1953.[Sourced from: https://www.stcolumba.org.au/history/]. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited.
