The Sr Fiacre's Catholic Church had its beginnings on 7/9/1846, when the present site was conveyed to the First Catholic Bishop of Sydney, John Polding, OSB. The first church/school was built in 1885 and opened and blessed on 31/1/1886 by Cardinal Moran (note he had been elevated between the laying of the foundation stone and the opening of the building). The old building is still in use today as part of the sanctuary of the current St Fiacre's church. Since 5/11/1946 the church has been under the care of the Capuchin Fathers - in part to support the Italian immigrant community. {Sourced from: https://www.stfiacreparish.com/parish-history/].
