The present St Mary's Catholic Church, Manly (Manly Freshwater Parish) was opened after the completion of stage two in June 1909. The first stage had been opened on 4/12/1892, but due to lack of funds the second stage was not built until the receipt of a bequest from Mrs Isaballe Dwyer in 1908. The first church building was a wooden structure erected on the site of the present St Mary's Primary School in 1868, next to the present church site. It was erected on land donated by Henry Gilbert Smith, which had been exchanged for a site in Pittwater Road, that had been deemed unsuitable for a church1. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 27/10/2020.
