The former Lake Cargelligo Methodist Church building was opened on 14/2/1923, and held its final service on 22/9/1974. The building was sold to the Lake Cargelligo Seventh-day Adventist Church in August 1974. No longer functioning. The exact address of the building is not known. Information invited.
Earliest references to regular Methodist services being held in the district date from about December 1882. The site for a church was secured in 1919/20, and while no official documentation is held on the erection of the church building, a plaque (see above) records it being opened on 14/2/1923. The building was also used for Presbyterian services until 1927, and in 1932 the Lutherans began using the building.
In January 1970 it joined with the Presbyterians to form The United Church of Lake Cargelligo, seven years before the formation of the Uniting Church, although co-operation between the two churches had existed from their beginnings in the 1880s. (see entry - Lake Cargelligo Uniting Church - 2672) More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 16/7/2021.
