A plaque records: St James Anglican Church, Kippilaw - The land upon which this church is built was donated to the Church of England - by Hon James Chisholm MLC (1806-1888) and his wife Elizabeth Margaret - Chisholm (Nee Kinghorne: 1808-1894) of Kippilaw. James Chisholm laid the - foundation stone for the church on 15 December 1859. - The building, designed by local architect Houlton Harries Voss and built by - Edward Oswald Evans (carpenter) and Mr Day (mason), was opened for divine - worship on 15 November 1860 by Rev'd William Sowerby - The church was paid for by subscription of local Parishioneers, of which half was - contributed by James Chisholm. |

The St James' Anglican Church, Pomeroy is part of the Parish of St Saviour's Cathedral Goulburn and the Diocese of Canberra & Goulburn. The church building was erected on land donated by the Chisholm family, and opened on 15/11/1860 by the Rev William Sowerby. The property is still used by the Church, but it is not known if regular services are conducted. A cemetery adjoins the church.
