The Wheeo Uniting Church, now operates in conjunction with the Wesley Uniting Church, Crookwell. The present church building was opened in 1939, and has over the years also been used from time to time by the Anglicans and Presbyterians. Regular services in the Wheeo district began about 1848 and lasted until about 1855, when they were interrupted by the gold rush. It appers services were commenced again in private homes around 1860. Land was donated together with 10 [pounds] by Mr Isaac Shepherd for the erection of a church building in the early 1860s. A weatherboard structure was erected and through the support of the local community was opened debt free on 2/4/1865, by the Rev H Gaud. It was demolished about 1930 due to its poor state of repair and eventually replaced by the current building in 1939. A small cemetery adjoins the church. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 12/6/2021.
