The former St Mary's Anglican Church, Yarra (Run-O-Water) was originally a Primitive Methodist Church building. The building was erected about 1868, probably during the term of the Rev John Foggon. It continued to be used by the Methodists, supported by local Anglicans, until their numbers were unable to support the church and the building was sold to the Anglicans about 19021. [The Methodist numbers grew over time and they built another church, in Yarra in 1925, with materials from the Thornford Church]. The now Anglican church continued to be used for worship until the 1950s, but was destroyed by fire in the 1980s2. A small cemetery is located next to the church with headstones from the 1870s and the graves of Mr & Mrs David Clarke, pionerers of the original Primitive Methodist Church. More historical information/photograhs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 26/1/2022.
