A street information plaque with a picture captioned - Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1955 - records: Seventh Day Adventist Church - This building was established by Australian Inland Mission and served as an amenities building prior to the recreation hut being built. It was the only building which could accommodate a full size snooker table, which was identified as another favourite pastime for the Irishmen who lived here, when the open cut mine was excavated. - There were also fold out tables from the walls which were used to play draughts and chess. Iron chairs salvaged from the war camps were in use. - The first wedding in Batchelor took place at this church for Orina and Jim Golding. - This building has served a series of faiths, going through Presbyterian, Methodist, United, Uniting before being sold to the Seventh Day Adventist church which currently hold services here. - Note the main entrance is on the side of this very long Sidney Williams hut, and the windows on each side are originals. - The vent in the gable ends is in a cross shape.
