The earliest services in Boonak were Presbyterian services held in the former Dugandan Homestead of Mr Macquarie MacDonald. A request from Mr MacDonald to the Church of Scotland brought the Rev W L Nelson in 1853. Services continued to be held occasionally at the homestead. Shortly after the arrival of Rev Edward Smythe in January 1915, as the first Presbyterian Missionary, a stump capping ceremony for St Thomas' church was conducted by the Rev Peter Robinson in March 1915. The church was opened in August 1915 by the Rev J Walker, Moderator of the Presbyterian Gneral Assembly of Queensland. He also conducted the worship services. This former church building is now used by the Uniting Church of Australia as a hall. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 18/2/2017.
