"The Uniting Church on Bribie Island grew from the Methodist Church that was established on Bribie in 1923, with services being held under a towering gum tree where the Bowls Club now stands.
In 1924 property was bought in Banya Street, and in 1929 a unused church building in Enoggera was bought and transported to Bribie by pontoon from Beachmere.
Despite difficulties such as getting a minister to the Island from Caboolture for weekly services (this was by rowing boat and then by ferry before the bridge opened in 1963), and evacuation of the island during WW2, a Ladies Guild was formed, and a Sunday School was led by Mrs Jessie Freeman.
This building was in continuous use as a church until numbers outgrew the facilities by the mid 1970s.
In 1985 the land in Webster Street was purchased...and the new Worship Centre was built ... The Centre was opened on 27 July 1986 with a service that began in the Banya Street building and was completed in the new Webster Street building."
