Comments

The former Salvation Army - Boonah property is now privately owned.

This was originally the Boonah Uniting Church building (formerly Boonah Merthodist Church) which was opened on 10/11/1907. It was acquired by The Salvation Army after the Uniting Church moved to their new building erected in 1989. This was the third Methodist Church building in the district. The first was erected in 1883, on the Old Mount Alford Road near the Dugandan bridge, on land donated by Mr Thomas Hardcastle. Following floods in 1887 & 1890 it was removed and rebuilt on Little High Street, Boonah in 1892. This second Boonah Methodist Church building became too small when revival services were held, and meetings were moved to the School of Arts. Plans for the third and present building were begun in 1905 by the Rev J H Heaton, with the new building erected in Church Street. The second church building was relocated to Engelsburg and served as their second church until 2016. More historical information/photographs of the former church(es)/congregation(s) are invited. Photographs uploaded 23/9/2019.
